Fight against stereotypes and prejudices that harm people with disabilities. Raise awareness about the capabilities of people with disabilities and the valuable contributions they make to the community.

Empowering People with Disabilities

HPOD works to empower people with disabilities to claim their human rights through the following activities:

• We provide human rights educational material and human rights training.
• We support the development of organizations of people with disabilities by producing educational materials on self-advocacy and training advocates.
• We assist people with disabilities and their organizations in locating each other, working together, forming alliances with non-governmental organizations, collaborating with National Human Rights Institutions, and locating other advocates in their region.

A strong civil society of people with disabilities will be needed to ensure that governments make needed changes to promote, protect, and fulfill their human rights.
